15 September - Dinner in the Dark

15 September - Dinner in the Dark

Well, we can tick this off the bucket list. A very thrilling night of good food, laughter and only one super taster - Jason Pace on the hall of fame. We started the evening with a warm welcome from the 12 Micron restaurant in Barangaroo.

Our taste buds were put to the test. We were served three courses of the chef's selected menu. Of each course, the task was to pick 5 ingredients that you could taste. Each correct ingredient would pull in 5 points. So down go the blindfolds, each meal is served and with the use of the other four senses, we feel our way around the table, smelling and tasting trying to figure out what the common flavours were. Listing into each conversation around the table as we scoff down the food.

The observation for a few was about how much your other senses were heightened, some the sense of smell other hearing, we assume to compensate for the temporary lack of sight, but also realising that flavours are not a clear fetched as we tend to think. Without sight which creates the expectation of what to look for it became harder to identify the key flavours.

Watch this space for another 'out of the box' event.
