How a mantra created clarity in my life

How a mantra created clarity in my life

Do now. Question later.

One thing I have discovered is that contemplation, when it comes to small things, like whether I take on a 40 day Mantra challenge or not, doesn’t require over-thinking. It’s a yes or no and then work it out later. Or let the benefits reveal themselves, if they do, instead of pre-empting or second-guessing.

Plus it’s not good or bad. It’s a try and see. If you don’t try you don’t know.

So I start the mantra.

I have no idea what the mantra means. And it doesn’t really matter at this stage. Initially, it’s about creating the habit of the mantra, to ensure I make it to the 40 days.

I have been meditating for a couple of weeks every day, so the discipline wasn’t too difficult. Allowing the half hour did stretch me a little. Some days I had to get up earlier than I typically would to make sure I don’t miss a day.
Interestingly, the days when I had to get up early to do the mantra, getting out of bed, was super easy.

40 days came and went in a flash. This is quite surprising given that by doing the mantra I felt like I had a lot more time in my day. I felt my capacity increased significantly. I found myself getting a lot more from the day, and doing it easy.

What came out of it.

My personal take is that meditation or mantra’s or anything you do to quiet the mind/control the mind expands your potential, which is a by-product of clarity. You don’t get there right away. I still struggled at the end, in respect to the mind wandering. It is confronting if you have never spent any time just sitting with yourself and your mind. But it gets better. And gets good. And it’s worth it. So worth it.

The clarity comes in. Clarity of self. Clarity on what’s important. Clarity around not getting hung up or using your energy on stuff that you can’t control, can’t change, or anything that doesn’t eventuate in better (whatever your interpretation of better is). When you train the mind to do something repeatedly it can help you remove all distractions and to narrow your focus. So you take this sentiment into your day. And so when I start something I finish it. Primarily for the reason that I had clarity around the importance of it from the beginning. And secondly. I had the energy, capacity and focus to finish it.

This is just the initial benefits. I have been told there is so, so much more. Wait and see.
